Confidence

All of us could use a little more. There are array of reasons why many of us have low self-esteem or lack confidence. Sometimes we have varying levels confidence in different areas of our lives be it professional, social, or personal.

If we were raised in an environment where we were continuously scrutinized and judged, we might continue to have that belief as a cognitive blueprint in our unconscious minds. If we only focused on what we were good at when we were younger, we might have never developed other skills for different situations.

The feeling of rejection can be embarrassing and annihilating. Feeling naked and vulnerable takes courage. It is not about developing something you do not have, but empowering and recognizing what you already have.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us. It is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - Nelson Mandela 1994 Inaugural Address.
